Dudi Sela first round match will be one of the first matches to be played at this year’s Wimbledon

Sela, who is Israel’s only player in the singles draw takes on the 32nd seed, Austrian Dominic Thiem, with the match due to start at 11.30am.

Later on Monday, Yoni Erlich, Israel’s other representative at The Championships, begins his men’s double campaign when he and German Philipp Petzschner, take on Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Italian Andreas Seppi. Their match is due to be second on Court 10.

Having played his first ever grass court match at Nottingham last week – which he lost – the 22-year-old, who’s ranked 63rd in the world, will be looking to end a nine-match losing streak against top-30 opposition at Tour level. The highest ranked player he’s defeated is No 36 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, which he achieved at the start of the year in Auckland. His best Grand Slam performance came at last year’s French Open where he reached the second round. He will also be competing in the men’s doubles competition alongside Leonardo Mayer, the pair face a daunting first round match having been drawn against the second seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo.

Tuesday should see Camila Giorgi get her singles campaign underway, the 31st seeded Italian takes on Brazilian Telinana Pereira in the first round. American Scott Lipsky is also competing in the men’s doubles competition. Partnering Treat Huey, from the Philippines, the pair take on the 12th seeds, Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas and Spaniard David Marrero.
