Sela wins Chennai Open opener

Israeli begins 2017 with comfortable win in India.

Dudi Sela’s preparations for the Australian Open began with a comfortable victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur.

Claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win in his first round clash at the Chennai Open, Sela, currently ranked 96 in the world, next faces Chung Hyeon.

Jonathan Erlich is taking part in the doubles in the same competition, where he’s teaming up with American Jewish player Scott Lipsky.

Elsewhere on the Challenger Tour, Amir Weintraub beat Yuya Kibi in Thailand 6-3, 6-4.

In another Challenger tournament in New Caledonia, Noah Rubin will be looking for two wins out of two when he takes on Adrián Menéndez-Maceiras.
