The former refusnik and current Jewish Agency Chairman is the latest big-name presenter to be announced by organisers of the annual educational extravaganza at Warwick University.

“Limmud makes a major contribution to inspirational Jewish learning around the globe,” said Sharansky. “I look forward to experiencing the Limmud magic where it all began, at Limmud Conference, and meeting the thousands of Jews from the UK and from communities all over the world who transcend communal, age, gender and international boundaries to learn and teach together.”

This year’s event has already made headlines as the first to be addressed by a serving Chief Rabbi after Ephraim Mirvis announced his participation within weeks of coming to office in September.

Helise Lieberman, director of the Taube Centre for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland, David Wolpe, rabbi of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles and The Forward editor Jane Eisner will also be among hundreds of presenters over the five days.  Amid record applications for the conference, additional accommodation has been organised in nearby hotels.

Limmud chair Kevin Sefton said: “Limmud celebrates the diversity of Jewish journeys. We are excited that Chief Rabbi Mirvis and Natan Sharansky, like their fellow presenters, will see and hear this first-hand. Limmud is exactly the platform for them to learn from others and share their visions for Jewry in the 21st century.”
