Sollosi strike sees Redbridge B end year unbeaten

Redbridge B finished the year with their 100 percent winning record intact, after they produced a workmanlike win against a strong Oakwood B side.

A disastrous start for the visitors saw them trail after just 30 seconds when RJC B 1-0 down in 30 seconds. A long ball was played forward by the Oakwood centre-back, which looked like no danger to Redbridge’s Richie Caplin, however in a moment of madness, tried to head a ball knee high, only to allow James Abrams to run onto the ball and confidently tuck home the opportunity presented to him.

A shock to the system, RJC regrouped. The centre-backs went back to basics, and then RJC B enforced themselves on the game, with good possession and tireless group pressing of the ball, when not in possession.

Sam Sollosi, then ran the show for the game, his dribbling at pace, and twist and turning is just sensational. Now dominating possession and the game, RJC B levelled the scores midway through the half.The trailblazer Adam Goldman was played in on the right-hand side, and delivered one of his famous crosses to the back post where the ever present RJC B captain Brad Gayer, tucked away his chance emphatically.

RJC B were completely on top after this, with midfield trio of Scott Kay, Ben Sollosi, Daniel Beam enforcing themselves with the high press, RJC B just couldn’t get the ball in the net, with Gayer and Sam Sollosi both having good chances.

Then with a few minutes to go in the half, the ball was played to Gayer on the left, who played a lovely pass into the area to the marauding Sam Sollosi, who went past the Oakwood centre-back and goalkeeper like he was ready for his winter ski trip, finishing brilliantly to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.

The second half was a bit more of a quiet affair, with RJC B falling to add to their tally, with bad decision-making in the final third, but never looked troubled to concede.

Player-manager Sam Rank said: “Overall today, the boys worked very hard, and deserved their victory to keep their momentum going, and 100 percent record.

“Special thank you to Jon Jacobs for letting me have some of the A team boys, with 13 B team players out today, which just shows the strength we have at the club.

“Also, special mentions today to Sam Sollosi – unplayable at times, Brad Gayer – a goal and assist from the captain, Adam Goldman ran his socks into ground, and really sets the mentality of how the pressing game

should work and finally Adam Noble – getting better and better each game, a real credit to someone who puts the effort on the training field and rewards he gets now on the pitch.

“We have had two good games against Oakwood this season, they are a good side, and play football in right way, physical but fair. I am sure they will take some points of our title rivals in the coming months, we wish them good luck for the rest of season.”
