Solossi signs off with winning double for Redbridge

In what was an emotionally charged day for Redbridge boss , Jon Jacobs, his University bound boys delivered a perfect way to finish their first and last games.

Camden took the early initiative , bigger and more powerful and seemingly more used to the slow running conditions of of Hatfield’s newly laid and ultra slow 3G PITCH.

The game settled down and Redbridge were denied in one of their first, fast, counter attacks with Oldstein crossing for the on-rushing Chernoff who couldn’t beat their keeper.

The game seemed to turn on a very controversial decision with the referee over ruling the linesman’s flag and awarding a goal from a clever move by Hershkorn for Camden.

Half-time came and Redbridge made a change with Adam Goldman introduced on the right. It was from a corner taken by him almost immediately after the restart that Nathan Sollosi rose and and unchallenged, buried the ball in the corner for the equaliser. Pressure was beginning to tell and Redbridge had taken over this match, the midfield of Camden out on their feet, chasing shadows in keeping up with the Sollosi boys and our counter attack and movement .

The game seemed to be heading for a draw with Kemp in the Redbridge goal making a fine save to stop Camden retaking the lead. Chances came and went for both teams and Camden looked particularly threatening as now Redbridge tired . There was a few minutes left on the clock when Niman picked up the ball on the left for Redbridge, found the feet of Sollosi and with one touch out of his feet, he buried the ball in the corner for his second and what turned out to be, the winning goal.

There was still time for chances at both end with Daniel Garfinkle unable to find the finish when one-on-one with the goalkeeper. There were match saving tackles from Goldman and Sapler but the ref finally blew his whistle on what was an excellent and evenly matched game where the class of Nathan Sollosi settled it in the end.

Jacobs said after the game: “We now know what we will be up against this season , it is going to be really tough but all I can ask is that they leave nothing on the pitch at the end of 90 minutes.”
