Take your simcha to the next level with the ultimate showband

Husband-and-wife team Tim and Lauren Reynolds had worked as musicians in various wedding and events bands for more than 10 years and noticed that the majority of these acts didn’t care about creating an awesome experience for the guests. “We realised that we had to create something better,” says Tim. “We want couples to have the incredible experience they deserve on their big day.” And so they took things to the next level and created Next Level Music. This incredible live show band features some of the best musicians in London whose positive, energetic and charismatic performances immerse the crowd in an amazing party atmosphere.

What have been the highlights of your year?

Providing music for the ceremony, dinner and party of an exclusive wedding in Bali, and playing at the Natural History Museum in London – it’s such an iconic space; every time we’re there it feels very special. Lastly, at a wedding this year in Majorca, there was a power cut while we were on stage but we just kept playing. It felt magical to keep the party going in the moonlight – the atmosphere was incredible, the guests lit the dance floor with their phone torches and we got a very rowdy limbo going until the power came back on.

What is the most requested first dance song for weddings?

This year it’s been Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. With the advent of TikTok, we’re seeing a lot of older songs coming back – people hear them on
social media and fall in love with them again. It’s great to see younger generations connecting with older music as well as new to see younger generations connecting with older music as well as new.

When the audience is a mixed-age group, how do you keep the balance right?

We start with the most inclusive music – timeless classics that everyone loves, regardless of age. Then, as the evening progresses, our set-list becomes more modern and energetic as the elders start to tire, leaving the dance floor open for the more energetic guests.

What activities are hot right now at weddings?

Roaming singers and musicians during dinner are a big hit, raising the energy levels much earlier in the day. They interact with the guests, getting everyone involved, clapping, singing and dancing. It’s very inclusive – guests of all ages love it! We also saw an incredible close-up magician at a wedding this year, who really wowed the guests (and us!) – it was something different that made a great impact.

What do you think makes a function great?

Making it your own and great planning. There are so many ‘cookie-cutter’ events nowadays, as if people are afraid to express themselves or are worried they’ll be judged by their guests. If you want to include traditions, include them! If you don’t like the idea of a first dance, you don’t have to do it the conventional way (or at all!) – it’s your day, so do it your way! Great planning is so important. A planner will not only bring great suppliers who are amazing at what they do, they’ll plan every detail of your day with the whole team and make it seamless, meaning you can relax and enjoy your event, knowing that the pros have it covered.
