Spurs set to complete deal for Israeli ace Manor Solomon

Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement to signed the Israeli winger Manor Solomon.

Solomon, 23, had impressed while on loan at Fulham last season from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, and was set for a medical at the north London club on Tuesday.

The high-rated youngster is believed to be the first Israeli to play for Spurs since Ronny Rosenthal, who achieved legendary status for his goals in the mid 1990s sides.

It is understood the deal for Solomon’s five-year contract at Spurs was brokered by the Israeli agent Pini Zahavi.

Solomon scored five times in 24 appearances on loan at Fulham last season. He moved to Craven Cottage last summer after exercising a Fifa rule allowing Ukraine-based players to suspend their contracts which was introduced following the invasion by Russia.

His Sephardi heritage allowed him to obtain a Portuguese passport, which helped facilitate his travel throughout the European Union.

He wrote of those still stranded in Ukraine:”My heart goes out to the people who are still there and unable to get through, I wish I could help.

“My heart is with the Israeli and Ukrainian citizens who are still stuck in the country and of course with all my teammates, take care of yourselves.”

He previously played for the Israeli team Maccabi Petah Tikva. In 2019 he scored his first UEFA Champions League goal, becoming the youngest Israeli to score in the Champions League.

Solomon will become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer after the winger Dejan Kulusevski, the goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicari and the midfielder James Maddison.
