Wycombe Wanderers duo Joe Jacobson and Scott Kashket suffered a heart-breaking 4-3 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.

The pair played the full 90 minutes at White Hart Lane, as the League Two side took the FA Cup fourth round tie to their illustrious Premier League opposition. Their attacking play saw them deservedly go into the half-time break 2-0 up, and they were leading the game 3-2 going into the last minute, before an 89th minute strike from Dele Alli and 97th minute winner from Son Heung-min sealed the most dramatic of wins to deny Wycombe a money-spinning replay at Adams Park.

Two goals from Paul Hayes – who had also headed against the bar in the first minute – gave the visitors the 2-0 advantage, but Son Heung-min and a Vinceent Janseen penalty drew the score level.

Substitute Garry Thompson headed Wycombe back in front with seven minutes to go, but there was still time for them to lose the tie in incredible style as Alli and Son scored to clinch a 4-3 win.

Jacobson said afterwards: “What an unbelievable experience that was. Credit to everyone at Wycombe, we did everyone and the club proud. Amazing support too.”

Kashket said: “Gutted about the result, [but the] team was absolutely quality today. Fans were brilliant as always, now we move on to Tuesday’s game.”
