`Stacey Solomon and husband Joe Swash to foster in the future

A documentary about the crumbling child care system has inspired the TV stars to grow their family

The Swash and Solomon brood set to grow in the future.

Already a mother of five, Stacey Solomon has been discussing the idea of fostering a child with husband Joe Swash, following his “heartbreaking” delve into England’s crumbling children’s care system for a BBC documentary.

TV presenter and actor Swash investigated England’s crumbling children’s care system and was so moved by the “heartbreaking” situation he encountered, he initiated a discussion with Stacey about fostering in the future. Swash was motivated to host the documentary by a Government review into children’ social care which revealed the woeful underfunding of the system.

He also has personal  reasons for highlighting the issue and wanting to look after children as his own mother, Kiffy, has been a foster carer for 15 years.

“I wanted to do more for the kids I met,” he said. “There’s not much I can do apart from shining a light on the situation and that was a real struggle. I just wanted to take them all home with me, to parent them, but I couldn’t, which was sad.”

Stacey was equally moved by Joe’s experience and added that “Stacey is on the same page as me” with regards to fostering as she has witnessed his mother’s journey with foster son Daniel, now 18 and referred to as Joe’s brother. Stacey is always emotional about children, particularly her own, recently posting about son Leighton leaving primary school and sending him off on a week away.

Stacey and her husband Joe Swash share three children together – baby Belle who was born in February, one-year-old Rose, and Rex, three, while she also has Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11 from her relationship with ex-fiancé Aaron Barnham.

Stacey, 33 has just gone back to work as the host of BBC’s Sort Your Life Out in which she travels around the UK with her team to revamp cluttered homes. If fostering children is on the horizon for the couple, their house in Chelmsford, Essex will certainly be full.
