Stamford Hill’s branch of Shomrim reflect on annual results

The Stamford Hill branch of Orthodox neighbourhood watch group Shomrim has celebrated its end-of-year results, reflecting on activity that led to 153 arrests for 185 offences.

Of the arrests made between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015, the community safety patrol said 21 were for racially aggravated/motivated offences, after a year in which the number of anti-Semitic incidents rose following Israel’s Gaza offensive last year. 

Shomrim volunteers in the North-East division also cheered their success after helping locate 38 vulnerable missing people of that period, as well as assisting in the apprehension of those suspected of assault, criminal damage, burglary and theft.

Elsewhere, volunteers in the North-West division, which cover Golders Green, Hendon, Childs Hill, Finchley and Temple Fortune, said they received 3,224 calls last year, only 1 percent of which related to anti-Semitic activity.
