Author and former QI host Stephen Fry and film stars Imelda Staunton and Jason Isaacs have joined a star-studded lineup for JW3’s online fundraising push next month.

Other celebrities include Staunton’s Downton Abbey screen partner Jim Carter, Four Weddings and a Funeral star Simon Callow, award-winning producer Mark Ronson and the singer songwriter Boy George, with additional household names expected in the coming weeks.

Donations made during JW3’s Big Night In, to be hosted by former EastEnds star Tracy-Ann Oberman on 10 September from 8pm, will go towards the venue’s charitable activities.

The community centre in north London, which reported an income loss of £1.5 million linked to covid-19, said the event will be a “key part” of its fundraising efforts.

Since the start of the lockdown, the JW3 has launched digital hub JewishOnline and delivered more than 30,000 meals as part of its food bank and delivery service.

“These are not easy times for anyone and JW3 is fortunate to have an incredible network of friends and supporters,” said JW3 chief executive officer Raymond Simonson.

“All we’re asking is that people dig deep and give what they can afford. The donations given on the night will be vital for securing the future of JW3. We look forward to welcoming you all to what promises to be an unforgettable evening,” he added.

The Genesis Philanthropy Group will be matching donations made during the event, to be live-streamed on Facebook, YouTube and the JW3 website
