Stone runs away with national title

by Andrew Sherwood

Long-distance runner David Stone helped Shaftsbury Barnet win the National Under 15 Road Relay in Birmingham.

Running the first of three 3.864km legs, the 13-year-old JFS student finished in a time of 12:40, finishing the leg in fifth place, and ninth overall from the 182 runners who took part.
The second fastest Year 9 boy – by just one second – he said: “I’m very happy as I’ve been training really hard for this one.”

The race was also noticeable in that this was the first time he wore nasal strips, based on research he read which claims it helps runners with asthma. It is also set to be his last one before he goes to Kibbutz Lavi for two months.
