Sunday Masters review – week 14

Title-hopefuls Harmen fell to defeat in Diviasion One, while it was a good day for both the Glenthorne clubs in Division Two…

DIVISION ONE:
TABLE
FIXTURES & RESULTS
Brady A recorded only their second win of the season as they saw off the challenge from title hopefuls Southgate Harmen, with Nick Collins’ overhead kick and Dan Levy’s winner earning them a 2-1 victory. Alex Bourne replied for Harmen.

DIVISION TWO:
TABLE
FIXTURES & RESULTS
There were wins for both Glenthorne teams, as a Jason Levy strike gave the A team the narrowest of victories over EDRS, to open up a three-point gap at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, two goals from Nick Pitch, along with a strike from David Shome and an own goal secured the points for the B team, as they beat Hendon Harriers 4-2. John Nesbitt and Geoff Isaacs netted for Hendon.

Brady B continued their recent unbeaten run, making it five without defeat, with a stout defensive performance against St John’s Wood Tigers. Brian Deal gave Brady an unlikely lead with just 15 minutes remaining after Tigers had dominated the game. Tigers equalised with a late goal from Grant Morgan, but Brady held on to take a share of the spoils.

Marshside put their recent heavy defeats behind them to record a win against in-form Temple Fortune, despite playing the entire game with ten men. Marshside took the lead midway through the first half through an own goal, but Temple Fortune made the extra man count and pulled level when Graham Meyer headed in a cross from Yali Mamouri. The deciding goal was one worthy of winning any match, with Fara Moghim cutting out a pass in his own half and running the entire length of the pitch and going past five Fortune players before smashing the ball in at the near post.
