Sunday Masters review – week 17

There was a clash of the top-two in Division One, while the Lions moved to top of the Division Two table, writes Jeremy Silverstone.

 North London Raiders edged closer to a first Masters League title with a 3-3 draw in their encounter with second-place Southgate Harmen.

Tony Plaskow, Wayne Davidson and an own goal scored for the Raiders, whilst Paul Stein, a Lloyd Becker penalty and a reciprocal own goal, following Andy Hearn’s long throw, earned Harmen a share of the spoils.

Meanwhile, Brady A edged out Scrabble in an end-to-end battle which finished 4-3 to Brady, thanks to two goals from Daniel Sugarman – including one from the penalty spot – Paul Allen and Jonny CohenJeremy King, Jeremy Kornhauser and Charlie Bernstein replied for Scrabble.

FIXTURES & RESULTS

Goals from Marc Morris, Mark Jacob and Darren Young gave Lions a 3-0 win over EDRS to go top of the league, albeit having played two games more than Glenthorne A.

At the lower end of the table, a late Vince Goodman strike was enough to give Hendon Harriers the points in their 1-0 win over Temple Fortune. St John’s Wood Tigers beat Marshside 3-1 courtesy of goals from Ashley Davidson, Paul Shamplina and Perry Somers.
