Sunday Masters review – week 23
NATHAN HORWITZ DIVISION TWO CUP:
Ex-Wingate FC and Maccabiah goalkeeper Gary Grant was the hero but not for his exploits between the posts as the tie between Temple Fortune and Hendon Harriers was decided by a penalty shoot-out.
James Ryan and Alex Mamouri scored for Temple Fortune, with Andy Diamond and Geoff Isaacs scoring for Hendon Harriers. It then took a 22 penalty shootout before Hendon Harriers progressed to the next round 7-6 with Gary Grant scoring the winning penalty!
DIVISION ONE:
A Laurence Swerner hat-trick and Scott Warren strike gave Brady Maccabi a convincing 4-1 win over Waldaf Town, Richard Reggel netted Town’s consolation. Goals from Steve Summers, Russell Yershon and Glenn Davis secured a 3-1 victory for Chigwell over Scrabble Harmen, Stefan Simons’ scored Harmen’s consolation from the penalty spot, while HMH recorded their fifth win of the season thanks to a brace from Lewis Cohen, in their 2-0 win over Faithfold.
DIVISION TWO:
Zig Zag Marshside’s fine form continued as a second half Darren Coon goal was enough to beat St Johns Wood Tigers 1-0 and keep alive their outside chances of winning the division.
