Lions’ Masters side

London Maccabi Lions kept alive their treble hopes, while Brady Maccabi B and Masrshide turned in five-star displays in Division Two, writes Jeremy Silverstone.

NATHAN HORWITZ DIVISION TWO CUP:

In the last of this season’s quarter-finals, second-half goals from Darren Coon and Marc Morris earned London Maccabi Lions a 2-0 win over Glenthorne A, to keep alive their hopes of an historic treble alive.

Lions now join EDRS, Marshside and Hendon Harriers in the draw for the Nathan Horwitz Cup, and are in the semi-finals of the Henry Swerner Cup, whilst remaining four points clear at the top of Division 2.

EDRS edged out St John’s Wood Tigers as Phil Silver and Mark Kingston gave them a 2-1 win, John Perloff replied for Tigers.

Brady B recorded a comfortable 5-0 win over Glenthorne B thanks to a hat-trick from Jonny Cohen, along with Roger Kay’s strike and a 20-yard curler from Adam Lustigman.

And despite goals for Hendon Harriers from Richard Sacks, Yossi Arvatz and an own goal they succumbed to Marshside, for whom Philip Small, Alan Harounoff, Yali Mamouri, Graham Meyer and another own goal gave them a 5-3 win.
