HENRY SWERNER LEAGUE CUP QUARTER-FINALS:

NL Raiders, chasing a league and cup double, were far too powerful for Division Two side St John’s Wood Tigers as they ran out 12-0 winners. Tony Plaskow helped himself to five goals, with Kevin Lotzof, Rob Cohen, Darren Cohen, Wayne Davidson, David Fox, David Lederman and Andrew Wolfin also all on target.

Chigwell Athletic booked their place in the last four, coming through 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out against Scrabble Harmen. Chigwell were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Steve Summers and Daniel Castle, only to be pegged back through Jonny Summerfield’s brace. Mark Conway put Chigwell back in front with 10 minutes to go, but Steven Moss levelled the scores in the 93rd minute to take it to the lottery of the shoot-out.

Waldaf Town booked their place in the semi-final with a 5-3 win over Brady Maccabi ‘A’ after battling back from falling behind. Lloyd Becker and Ami Wynbourne scored two each, with Alex Bourne also on target. Tim Green, Gavin Sherman and Andrew Rich replied for Brady.

In an all Division Two clash, Zig Zag Marshside took revenge for their 2-1 defeat against EDRS in the Nathan Horwitz Cup by winning by the same score thanks to a 30-yard wonder strike from Barry Silkman and Paul Shamplina’s strike, both before the break. Russell Rich pulled one back with six minutes remaining, but ZZM held out to progress into the semi-finals to join NL Raiders, ChigwellAthletic and Waldaf Town.
