Sunday Masters review – week 4

Chigwell opened up a three-point gap at the top of the Division One table, while in Division Two, London Lions continued their march to another title with a 6-0 win over Temple Fortune, writes Jeremy Silverstone…

DIVISION ONE:

Despite the heroics of stand-in goalkeeper David Garson, Faithfold went down 6-2 to a rampant Brady A. Scott Warren netted twice – once from the spot – with Paul Shamplina, Kevin Lotzof, Mark Wagman and Ashley Davidson also all on target as Brady claimed their first win of the campaign. Stefan Simons scored both Faithfold’s goals.

North London Raiders suffered a rare defeat, falling 4-2 to Chigwell. Despite Stefan Benfredj scoring on his debut for Raiders, and Tony Plaskow hitting one in from a free-kick, two goals from Adam Stolerman, including one from the penalty spot, along with strikes from Danny Sugarman and Steve Summer earned Chigwell a win that opens up a three-point gap at the top for them.

HMH edged out Waldaf Town 3-2 thanks to a brace from James Temple and an own goal. Alex Bourne and Lloyd Becker replied for Waldaf.

Lions continued their seemingly inexorable march towards another title with a 6-0 demolition of Temple Fortune. Marc Morris scored a ‘perfect’ hat-trick  – one with his left foot, one with his right and one with his head, with Simon Black, Simon Davidson and Arthur Duke also finding the back of the net.

Gary Adams was also among the hat-tricks, as his treble – plus a penalty from Greg Morris – led Glenthorne to a 4-0 win over Brady B.

But it took a solitary strike from the warhorse Steve Krieger to earn EDRS the narrowest of victories over Marshside, and leapfrog their rivals into second place.
