Oakwood moved up a couple of places as two goals each from Bradley Wine and Guy Helman helped them to this comfortable win. Anthony Kintish was also on target.
O’s joint-manager Ric Blank told jewishnews.co.uk: “A comfortable win today at Rowley Lane – and it was good to be back. You never know how the boys are going to be after the festive period but everyone looked happy to be playing and up for the game. The pitch was in phenomenal condition considering the weather and I think that really got everyone motivated.
“From the off we were in control and looked very comfortable at the back. We were playing within ourselves before going 1-0 up after half an hour, Brad Wine opening his 2014 account after rounding the goalkeeper.
“We went up a gear in the second half and the game was over as a contest when Kintish made it two. Guy Helman bossed the game with the help of Josh Bentley and Sam Jacobson and Ilan Scorah (with Oli Gee back in net) were in merciless mood at the back. Guy scored twice (one superb solo effort) before Brad made it five after a wonderful cross from Jonny Quinn.
“We hope this is the start of a good run that’s the precursor to a great 2014.”

Dean Shaw scored for Storm, for whom player-manager Simon Linden told jewishnews.co.uk: “Redbridge on their day are the best team in the league, class outfit! I was proud of my team for putting in a good performance and up until the 40 minute mark when we were 1-0 up.”

Faithfold moved off the bottom of the table as goals from Doron Hershkorn, Ben Moss and Eric Hovelson saw them win this five-goal thriller.
Marcus Mann scored twice for Haroldeans, for whom manager Jonathan Abrams told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a hard fought, close game against our bottom of the table rivals. The end result was 3-2, but this only tells a fraction of the story, with both sides going close to scoring multiple times…denied variously by the woodwork, sloppy finishing and some great saves by both keepers.
“As you would expect from this type of clash, it was a heated contest with bookings on both sides.
“For the second Faithfold goal, which put them 2-0 ahead, despite the linesman flagging for offside and the ref checking with him, the ref decided to overrule the linesman’s flag and award the goal anyway.
“Our main complaint about the game though was that with 10 minutes to play, and with a little momentum on our side having just scored, the Faithfold manager, who was standing in as a linesman, wrongly informed the referee that Haroldeans striker Oliver Joseph had punched a Faithfold player.
“After the Haroldeans goal, Faithfold players were in no rush to restart the game and were trying to hold things up by not returning the ball to the centre. One of the Faithfold players was deliberately keeping hold of the ball in his hands. Oliver Joseph’s attempt to try to take the ball from him resulted in the player feigning injury and the Faithfold manager flagging, crying foul. It was an innocuous incident and not a foul. The “injured party” stood up almost immediately. Between his “collapse” and the manager’s overzealous flagging and inaccurate reporting, Oli Joseph – who had a previously unblemished 20 year career in Jewish football – was dismissed and now faces a ban. The referee didn’t see the incident.
“Although the game ended 3-2 and could have gone either way at the end, this decision took the wind out of Haroldeans sails and marred the game.”

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B 4 ATHLETIC BILBAUM 1
The Raiders continued their march to the title with this emphatic win over promotion-seeking Bilbaum.
Simon Buchler, Adam Posner, Nicky Woolf and Danny Bloom were all on target for the Raiders, with manager Jonathan Adelman telling jewishnews.co.uk: “Despite the added pressure of playing in front of Raider’s Life Vice President Rob Richman for the first time this season, the boys put on a great display of passing and possession football particularly in the first half.
“Credit to Bilbaum they changed their shape at half time and the second half was end to end. We scored some lovely goals including a collectors item: an Adam Posner lob volley, his first of the season. Redbridge and FC Team will have something to say about the title race so we can’t rest on our laurels for one moment but we’ve put ourselves in a great position to get promoted and we know if we keep working hard we have a chance to win the league.”
Jake Gilbert scored for the visitors.

Whetstone joint-manager Clive Nathan told jewishnews.co.uk: “Mostly I was pleased that we got the game played. It wasn’t a classic as we seemed a bit rusty after a few weeks off.
“It was great to see Phillipe get a hat-trick and Aaron a brace; Noah Bier had another fine game and all round it was good to just be playing again. Thanks to Boca for making it a good game played in the right spirit in front of David Wolff.”
