Talented student goalkeeper signs for top American university

A Jewish student from London with a talent for football has been signed by a top American university.

Year 13 pupil Reuben Rabstein, deputy head boy at Immanuel College, signed on the dotted line this week, and will now play for Riverhawks at Northeastern State University, Oklahoma.

Rabstein began playing football aged six, becoming goalkeeper for Maccabi London Lions FC, then winning gold with Britain in the European Maccabi Games, before joining Team GB at the Maccabiah Games in Israel last summer.

He joined Wingate and Finchley FC in August last year, playing for the Under-23s and the first-team against the likes of Barnet FC in the FA Youth Cup. He was then scouted for Yeovil Town FC, where he played his first professional match against Portsmouth Under-18s.

Reuben will now join the Riverhawks at the beginning of August, after signing up as part of National Letter of Intent Signing Day across the United States, when all prospective Soccer Scholars sign for their college teams.
