Talk Radio allows notorious antisemite David Icke to ‘promote film’
Station says 'we have no plans to invite him back' after infamous conspiracy theorist is handed 35-minute platform
Talk Radio has defended giving notorious antisemitic conspiracy theorist David Icke a 35-minute platform to “promote” his new film.
The broadcaster has been urged to apologise for allowing Icke extended air-time on 25 April.
The former footballer and TV presenter’s documentary, ‘Renegade – The Life Story of David Icke‘, reflects on his work and campaigns. This has included championing anti-Jewish propaganda and attempting to legitimise the infamous Tzarist forgery, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which claims “Zionists” control the world.
In one of his books, Icke said Jews “created the circumstances which made the Second World War inevitable” and “financed Hitler to power in 1933 and made the funds available for his rearmament”.
Talk Radio told Jewish News he was invited on “to promote his film… we have no plans to invite him back on”.
Speaking on Talk Radio, he reflected on issues including fake news, climate change and Brexit.
Stephen Silverman, Director of Investigations and Enforcement at Campaign Against Antisemitism called on TalkRadio to “immediately apologise”.
He added: “We are going to make a formal complaint to the station and are considering raising the matter with Ofcom.”
Social media users reacted with anger to Talk Radio’s tweet promoting the show, with David Schneider calling Icke “a major antisemite and hate-monger”, criticising Talk Radio for “normalising him”. Actress Tracy Anne Oberman added that Icke is a “terrifyingly powerful racist who peddles truly dangerous lies and literature”.
