The former head of the Zionist Federation and the JNF in the UK has ended his brief spell as a director at the United Synagogue to become the new chief executive of Technion UK.

Alan Aziz, who was director of development and events at the US, said he was “very excited” to promote Israeli education, science and technology through the support of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.

Israel’s oldest university, the Technion is known for its ground-breaking research, and Aziz said he would work to “help maintain it as a world class centre of science and technological innovation that is changing people’s lives throughout the world and creating a new global image for Israel”.

Technion UK chair Daniel Peltz said: “We’re delighted to welcome Alan. We were impressed with his wealth of experience and his extensive track record in growing organisations both through fundraising and profile raising campaigns.”
