Two teenagers are facing up to 10 years in jail for stealing items from Auschwitz.

The 17-year-old boys from the independent Perse School in Cambridge were apprehended by museum staff in June during a school trip and items including spoons, buttons and pieces of glass found during a body search.

Polish prosecutors say the pair withdrew an initial admission of guilt, saying they were not aware that the items had special cultural significance, and they are now likely to have to appear in court.
