Tel Aviv fourth most popular destination from Luton Airport during Eurovision

Tel Aviv was the fourth most popular destination for passengers travelling from Luton Airport last month, beating Ibiza, Dublin and Belfast, it has been revealed.

Data released yesterday revealed the Israeli city enjoyed a 9 percent boost in passengers travelling from Luton last month.

Luton revealed last month was its busiest May ever, with 1.6m passengers travelling through the airport, thanks to a boost in numbers brought on by the Eurovision Song Contest.

Amsterdam was the most popular destination, followed by Bucharest and Budapest in the top 3 slots and Tel Aviv in fourth place.

Eurovision returned to Israel in May, following Netta Barzilai’s thrilling victory last year with a quirky pop hit.

Madonna, who attended the event, performed ‘Like A Prayer’ to mark the 30^th anniversary since its release and her new song ‘Future’ with guest star Quavo.

The Netherlands won the competition with Duncan Laurence’s rendition of his ballad “Arcade”, earning the right to host the event next year.
