TfL ‘investigating whether Palestine chant came from tube driver’

TfL say it is not clear that the 'Free Palestine' chants heard over the tannoy on the tube at the weekend came from the driver

Transport for London have said they are investigating whether the ‘Free Palestine’ chants heard over the tannoy on the tube at the weekend came from the driver.

On Saturday, a tube driver was heard leading a chant of ‘Free Palestine’ over the tannoy. Passengers could be heard singing along on the packed train.  It is thought that many of them were travelling to a protest rally in support of Palestinian civilians.

Today, a TfL spokesperson said: “We are investigating footage circulating on social media that suggested political comments were made by one of our Tube drivers using the train’s PA system. We will be scrutinising the footage and other feedback to establish if it was a driver and who they were.

“London is open for everyone, and we are committed to providing a safe network for all our customers.”
