Thames Water signs pioneering deal with Israeli firm

The new system, which uses bubbles to clean, will be trialled at Chesham sewage worksThames Water has signed a deal with a pioneering Israeli water purification company.

The new system, engineered by Mapal Green Energy, will be trialled at Chesham sewage works in May.

It uses bubbles to clean water and remove pollutants.

If the trail is successful the Israeli system will be implemented across 30 of Thames Water’s sewage plants in London and the Thames Valley.

A spokesperson for Thames Water, which supplies 15 million customers in the UK, said: “The older plants will use the Mapal system to see if it can improve efficiency.” The new technology could potentially save Thames Water £15million per annum.
