Jonny Gould

A Holocaust survivor who became a star football coach and a lawyer dedicated to stopping BDS feature in our latest podcast, available now online.

Jonny Gould’s Jewish State with Jewish News is the brainchild of Gould, one of Britain’s top broadcasters, who has worked in journalism for more than 30 years.

The new episode includes an interview with Jonathan Turner, chief executive of UK Lawyers For Israel (UKLFI), which counters attempts to undermine, attack and delegitimise Israel through legal means.

Over the years, UKLFI has scored successes against BDS campaigns, student unions, airlines and sports governing bodies, as well as stopping a terrorist flotilla bound sailing from Greece that was bound for Gaza.

Also on the show is David Bolchover, author of The Greatest Comeback, which outlines the remarkable story of Holocaust survivor and footballer Bela Guttmann.

Having endured the loss of his entire family, Guttmann escaped from a slave labour camp and went on to win the European Cup twice as coach of Benfica, following a glorious career playing with Hakoah Vienna.

Past guests on the podcast include Trevor Horn, the multi-million selling record producer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood about his affinity to Judaism, MPs Ian Austin and John Mann on their fight against anti-Jewish racism in the Labour party and Yaakov Peri, the former head of Israel’s internal security service, Shin Bet.
