Three ‘inspiring’ women honoured for Israel advocacy at Golden Golda Awards

Ilana Metzger, Joy Wolfe and Ruth Jacobs honoured for Zionist activism at awards named after Israel's female PM Golda Meir.

The World Zionist Organisation’s Golden Golda Awards have taken place in London for the first time, with three “inspiring” female winners chosen for their Zionist advocacy.

The awards, held last week at Kent House in Knightsbridge, are named after former Israeli premier Golda Meir. This year’s winners were Ilana Metzger, Joy Wolfe and Ruth Jacobs.

All three were praised for their support of Israel: Jacobs and Metzger are based in London and Wolfe in Manchester, where she is president of Stand With Us UK, honorary president of Manchester Zionist Central Council and vice-president of the Zionist Federation.

A WZO-UK spokesperson said: “It has been inspiring for us to share your story and tell more about your contribution to all honourable guests. Your energy in contributing to Zionism and your special connection to Israel is yahid sgula [of special virtue]”. The prizes were awarded by Marina Koritny, head of the WZO’s department for the promotion of aliyah.
