Three sisters to walk 26 miles for cancer charity

Three Jewish sisters are embarking on a 26 mile hike to raise money for their brother-in-law suffering from bowel cancer.

52-year-old Mike was delivered the devastating news last June and has been receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatment ever since.

All from Bushey, the trio are walking for over seven hours in May to raise money for the Action Against Cancer Charity, adding to the staggering £21,000 that they have already raised.

The charity has been able to finance a laboratory at Imperial College London led by leading oncologist and observant Jew, Justin Stebbing; a pioneering researcher in cancer development who is also responsible for Mike’s recovery.

Mike’s wife Tiffany Berg, 43, and her two sisters Alexis Boo, 40 and Melise Witkin, 48 have received a great deal of support from friends, family and the Jewish community in Hertfordshire where they are members of the Bushey United Synagouge.

Alexis said: “We are flabbergasted about the amount of money we have raised, it is completely overwhelming and it has been unbelievable.”

The family are having a huge Seder for the first night of Pesach before embarking on an 18 mile walk next Sunday to make sure they are ready to conquer the countryside.
