Tony Milch considering future after suffering second defeat

Tony Milch has hinted he’s considering his future in the sport after he suffered his second professional defeat on Saturday night.

Returning to the ring – and scene – of his first defeat four months ago, a much closer affair saw Danny Little awarded the fight 58-56 on points decision.

Speaking after the defeat – and where this leaves his career – Milch said: “I think the main thing now is not to make any rash decisions, I’ve got other opportunities on my mind outside of boxing. I love the sport, I’ve been doing it for 21 years, so let’s see. The main thing is I felt fit and strong out there. At times I wasn’t busy enough but that’s what happens. Good luck to him, he’s a great guy.”

Both men enjoyed spells during the six-round contest at the iconic York Hall and Milch said he was surprised when the result was announced.

“I’m feeling very disappointed, when they read out the points score I thought I was going to get it,” he said. “A lot of people in the crowd thought I had it, but it is what it is. Obviously the scoring went with the other guy and I feel disappointed, but I’m feeling fine.

“I thought I probably nicked the first three rounds, and he won the fourth and fifth. The sixth was really exciting and everyone here thought so as well. I thought I won the sixth so knew it was very close, but all I can say is well done Danny Little.

Thanking his new trainer Josh Burnham – as well as others – for what could be his last ever fight, he said: “It takes time learning with a new trainer – and thanks so much to Josh for showing me some new things and helping me and motivating me.

“I also want to thank Jewish News for always supporting me and to everyone who came out tonight, I’m sure they had a great night.”
