Tory MP sorry for tweeting poem whose full version references Rothschilds

A Tory MP has apologised for approvingly sharing clips from a poem whose full version references the Rothschild family and a new world order.

Chris Green, the MP for Bolton West since 2015, retweeted parts of a video of the comedian Chris McGlade reading aloud a poem entitled “the right to hate”.

The since-deleted tweet was captioned: “If you love poetry, this is worth a listen.”

The full version of the poem says that the “Rothschilds are the richest banking family in this world and that’s got nothing to do with them being Jewish and everything to do with them being multi-billionaires who really do influence the dollar, pound and yen.”

But Green told the Manchester Evening News the clips shared on his timeline did not contain any antisemitic tropes.”One of the things I’m a little bit concerned about is that I think some people believe that I shared the entirety of this poem but it was only a small clip,” he told the outlet.

He said: “It was a two-minute section of it. I don’t know if someone’s been smart with the editing or something because there was zero reference to the new world order or the Rothschilds in what I tweeted.”

Green offered a full apology on Thursday, tweeting: “Antisemitism comes in many forms, some more obvious than others. I tweeted a section of a poem that in other parts ref ‘New World Order’ & ‘Rothschilds’.

“I should have been more careful about what & who I was tweeting. I offer a full & unreserved apology & have deleted the tweet.”
