Trial date set for man accused of five Stamford Hill assaults

A man accused of assaulting Jews in Stamford Hill is set to go on trial next year.

According to court officials, Abdullah Qureshi, 28, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was remanded in custody and is set to stand trial at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on 18 January.

Police charged him with a number of assaults, including one count of racially or religiously aggravated wounding or grievous bodily harm and four counts of racially or religiously aggravated common assault.

The defendant was also charged with one count of racially or religious aggravated criminal damage.

The charges came after five incidents on Wednesday, 18 August involving members of the Jewish community were reported to police in the Stamford Hill area.
