Triathlete finishes just outside top-20
First Israeli triathlete to compete at Olympics finishes gruelling race in 26th place.
Ron Darmon finished Thursday’s race in a respectable 26th place, completing the 1.5km swim, 38.48km bike ride and 10km run in a time of 1:48:41.
Qualifying for the Games by reaching number 52 in the world rankings – the top 55 qualified for the competition, the 23-year-old finished the swim in 18.06 – the 35th fastest time, the bike ride in 1:14:41 – 24th fastest time – and run 1.39.41- 22nd fastest time.
Gold was won by GB’s Alistair Brownless, who finished in a time of 1:45:01.
