Tributes paid to Jewish Care resident who died at 101

'You're inspirational,' actress Tracy Ann Oberman told Esther Shupick in a campaign video

Tributes were paid to Jewish Care resident Esther Shupick, who died last week at 101.

The Lady Sarah Cohen House resident appeared in Jewish Care’s 2019 annual dinner film, shown to 900 guests. The night raised £5.2 million for the charity.

The short clip was filmed on Shupick’s birthday and features an interview with actress Tracy Ann Oberman, who told her: “Stella, happy birthday. You don’t look a day over 70.”

“You’re inspirational,” Oberman added.

“She thought she was a superstar,” her granddaughter Francine Wunsh said about the film. “She still had a sense of humour.”

A funeral was held at Edgwarebury Cemetery on Wednesday. Esther Shupick is survived by  two children and an extensive family.
