Tributes to former FZY Honorary Life President who dies aged 66

Tributes have been paid to the former Honorary Life President of the Federation of Zionist Youth, who has died in Jerusalem aged 66.

Paul Lenga from Woodside Park passed away last week as his friends and family remembered his voluntary work, legal career and pro-Israel advocacy.

He moved to Israel with his wife Sharon in 1983, and spent his time supporting others making Aliyah, acting as a personal mentor and helping fundraising efforts. Lenga was also known for extensive voluntary work with the Jewish Agency for Israel, Zionist Federation of Great Britain and World Zionist Organisation (WZO).

After qualifying as a solicitor in the UK, he embarked on a legal career which included advising the Israeli government on major infrastructure projects, as well as financial institutions like the World Bank.

David Levenson, his brother-in-law, said he was “the most influential advocate for Zionist youth movements to emerge from the Anglo-Jewish community in the past 50 years”.

“Paul’s love for his family, Israel and FZY drove everything he did and inspired everyone who came into contact with him. His loss leaves a huge void in the Anglo-Israeli community. “

He leaves behind his wife Sharon, brother Eden, children Nadav, Daniel and Maayan, daughters-in-law Bianca and Omer, and grandson Yonatan.
