Two Jewish youth movements join UJIA Israel tour programme
Klal Chazon, which educates Charedi teens, and religious Zionist group Sinai Youth, become 11th and 12th groups to participate in the umbrella group's scheme
Two Jewish youth movements have joined UJIA’s Israel Tour programme, including one catering for young adults from the strictly Orthodox community.
Klal Chazon, which educates Charedi teenagers, and Sinai Youth, a religious Zionist movement, became the eleventh and twelfth groups to participate in UJIA’s flagship programme funded by a £200,000 bursary.
Together they are expected to add about 70 participants in 2019, with approximately 1,100 young British Jews taking part in the Israel Experience this year.
UJIA’s chief executive Michael Wegier said the new additions meant it was “adding to the broad spectrum of provision offered, across British Jewry, including the Charedi and Modern Orthodox communities”.
Israel Tour, including the scheduling and accommodation, is organised by the youth movements and organisations themselves, in liaison with tour providers.
A spokeswoman said: “The movements and organisations have their own ideologies providing young people with the chance to connect to Israel in a personalised way that is meaningful to them.”
Klal Chazon, which offers Shabbat residentials, classes, informal education and trips to sites of Jewish heritage and interest, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with UJIA Israel Experience and we hope that this will enable us to bring more participants to a greater appreciation of Eretz Yisroel and its importance today.”
Sinai Youth said Israel Tour was “an exceptional experience for all our participants. It can have life changing influences on how we interact with Israel and Israelis, and how we understand our Jewish heritage”.
