JNF UK announces new chief executive

Yonatan Galon to lead the British charity after serving as its Israel representative for seven years

The Jewish National Fund UK (JNF UK) has appointed a new chief executive, eight months after former boss Alan Aziz said he was moving to the United Synagogue.

Yonatan Galon, who has worked as the UK charity’s representative in Israel for the past seven years, said he was “thrilled” to be taking over, after the short-lived tenure of former Zionist Federation chief Aziz.

“I look forward to working closely with JNF UK’s supporters and the UK Jewish community,” said Galon, who once served in the Israeli Navy. “We believe in supporting Israel for life.”

Chairman Samuel Hayek said Galon would be “building on the years of positive work he has done with us in Israel as he takes on this new role”.
