UK ‘poised’ to provide diplomatic, intelligence and security support to Israel

Downing Street confirmed it stands ready to help Israel if it requested as the PM prepared to chair an emergency meeting of Cobra.

Rishi Sunak has pledged to provide diplomatic, intelligence or security support to Israel if requested after attacks by Hamas.
Downing Street confirmed the UK was “poised” to help Israel if it requested as he prepared to chair an emergency meeting of Cobra.

Evacuating  British citizens from affected areas, is also a possibility as the government said keeping them safe was the “utmost priority”.

A meeting of Cobra takes mace on Monday afternoon, was the death toll continues to rise after Hamas’s atrocities in Israel. At least 700 people have been killed in Israel and thousands injured.

The prime minister tweeted a picture of Downing Street in blue and white with the simple message: We stand with Israel”

Sunak also spoke with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, said the UK was one of Israel’s strongest allies.

He said Britain had previously provided “the kinds of equipment that they’ve used to defend themselves over the past couple of days”.

“And as I said to the prime minister [of Israel], we will continue to provide – whether that’s diplomatic, intelligence or security support – as they need.”
