Unhappy Giorgi reflects on Wimbledon exit

Camila Giorgi cut an unhappy figure after she suffered a first round exit against Garbine Muguruza at Wimbledon.

However, taking the second seed, and current French Open champion, to a third and final set on Centre Court, eventually going down, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4, she said: “I’m not happy, but I played a good match, some points were really important and I didn’t take these points.”

Not approaching the match with any specific game plan, saying she “just played my game, that’s all”, she also wasn’t in awe on playing on Centre Court. She said: “It was the same as the practice courts, it wasn’t that much different, but I would like to play there more!”

Saying she wouldn’t have changed her approach to the match, she said: “No, nothing because it’s in the past. I know my game very well. If it’s on top, it’s great, but I’m still working on it and it will be okay.”

Looking ahead to the remainder of the year, she added: “I’m not sure if I’m going to the Olympics yet, and am just looking to climb the rankings again, that’s all.
