Universities minister joins Israeli trade delegation to open London Stock Exchange
Sam Gyimah and the Jewish state's ambassador to Britain, Mark Regev, among those who opened LSE for business on Tuesday
Britain’s minister for universities and innovation has opened the London Stock Exchange together with Israeli Ambassador Mark Regev and an Israeli trade delegation.
Minister Sam Gyimah joined the dignitaries at the start of the annual Innovate Israel conference and urged Israeli start-ups to do business in the UK.
The conference, organised by UK Israel Business, sees a range of entrepreneurs and venture capitalists descend on London to drum up business and forge links.
Among those in London this week was serial inventor Ziv Aviram, the co-founder of autonomous vehicle software company Mobileye, who met Prince William in Israel late last month.
During a small exhibition of Israeli innovation at the British Ambassador’s residence, the prince tried on a pair of Aviram’s glasses, linked to a computer to partially-sighted people see more clearly.
UK Israel Business chief executive Hugo Bieber said: “We’ve seen a step-change in the number of UK corporates attending Innovate Israel as Israeli innovation becomes ever more important to the UK.”
