Victims named in Pittsburgh synagogue shooting

The chief medical examiner of Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County has released the names of the 11 victims of the synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh on Saturday:

Among them were husband and wife Bernice and Sylvan Simon, aged 84 and 86 respectively, with the eldest victim being 97-year-old Rose Mallinger.

The youngest victims were brothers David and Cecil Rosenthal, who were aged 54 and 59 respectively.

Dan Stein, 71, was the first victim to be named earlier on Sunday. Serving as president of the New Light Congregation, one of the three congregations that were housed in the synagogue building, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported how he had recently became a grandfather for the first time, according to local reports.

“He was always willing to help anybody,” said his nephew, Steven Halle. “He was somebody that everybody liked, very dry sense of humor and recently had a grandson who loved him.”
