Anti-Israel protesters gathered outside the British Film Insititute, on the opening night of the Jewish Film festival, to protest the festivals funding from an Israeli sponsor.

The protesters used megaphones and banners to attract attention to their message of boycotts, divestment and sanctions for Israel.

They outlined their vocal opposition to the festival being in part held upon funding from the Israeli Embassy.

The opening gala on 6 November at London Southbank was attended by culture Secretary Sajid Javid who praised it, saying that for the last 20 years the festival had “provided a unique platform for hundreds of film-makers telling thousands of stories.. that provide stimulating and unique views of Jewish and Israeli culture”

The festival runs until November 23 and features 159 screenings at venues across the country.
