WATCH: President Rivlin greeted by German president on state visit
Israel’s president continued his diplomatic visit to Germany, receiving a guard of honour and an official state welcome at Berlin’s Bellevue Palace, the residence of German President Joachim Gauck.
Gauk welcomed President Rivlin, who signed the guestbook where he quoted Psalms 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; May they that love three prosper.”
On the previous day, Rivlin tweeted that he was “welcomed warmly in #Germany. Our friendship isn’t compensation for the Holocaust, but built on shared values of democracy & freedom #il50d.

During his visit, he has had meetings with the with President Gauck, Chancellor Merkel, and other senior Government officials to “help deepen the cooperation between our two peoples and governments.”
He also laid a wreath at the Platform 17 memorial to the Jews of Berlin murdered in the Holocaust, in addition to engaging in meeting Germans and Israelis engaged in projects together.
