Westminster launch for Jewish News interfaith channel

Communities minister Lord Ahmad will today help Jewish News launch an online interfaith channel.

The site, hosted on jewishnews.co.uk, is the first of its kind for any single-faith media in the UK and is backed by the Pears Foundation. It aims to highlight the work of organisations and initiatives bringing members of different faiths together to break down barriers.

Providing news, features, pictures and opinion articles, the section will also offer a platform for discussion on the challenges facing this field – some of which were highlighted by the impact of the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Jewish News editor Richard Ferrer said the section will be a “place for people of all religions and none to celebrate similarities, debate differences and tackle issues of common concern”.

Parliamentarians will join at least six of the UK’s faith communities for the launch at the House of Commons, which is hosted by Tory MP Mike Freer, Labour peer Lord Levy and Lib Dem peer Lord Verjee.
