Shraga Weinberg and Itai Erenlib missed out on a bronze medal in Rio.

Shraga Weinberg and Itai Erenlib missed out on a bronze medal in the men’s quad wheelchair tennis at the Rio Paralympics.

Taking on GB duo Jamie Burdekin and Andy Lapthorne, they were beaten 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, in a match which lasted nearly four and a half hours, and was played in 35 degree heat, which necessitated a thirty minute break.

Weinberg, who was also the flagbearer at the opening ceremony, was looking to win his third Paralympic medal, having won bronze in the doubles four years ago and a silver in 2008.

Elsewhere in Rio, Israel’s goalball team were beaten 15-5 by Turkey in the quarter-final on Wednesday evening.

In the swimming pool, Swimmer Inbal Pezaro is still looking for her first medal, having failed to reach the podium in three finals. Her latest event saw her finish sixth in the S5 50m freestyle final.

Yoav Valinsky finished the men’s SM6 200m individual medley final in seventh place.
