Wikipedia founder to recieve prestigious award in Israel

The founder of Wikipedia is among the recipients of a prestigious Israeli award.

Jimmy Wales, who created the online encyclopaedia, will be one of six recipients of this year’s Dan David Prize honoured at a ceremony at Tel Aviv University in May.

Recipients of the prize, named after prominent philanthropist and businessman of that name, donate 10 percent of their $1m prize money towards 20 doctoral and postdoctoral scholarships.

Laureates are selected for achievements related to technological and cultural achievements related to past, present and future.
