Wimbledon 2017: Giorgi through to third round

Italian beats 17th seeded American to set up clash against Latvian Jekena Ostapenko.

Giorgi is into the third round of the women's singles competition.

Camila Giorgi booked her place in the third round of Wimbledon on Wednesday evening by beating Madison Keys.

Having been knocked out in the first round of the previous two Grand Slams so far this year, the Italian, who has dropped down to 86 in the world rankings, was the underdog going into the tie, but proved to be more than a match for her American opponent.

Winning the first set 6-5, Keys levelled the match, winning the tiebreak, before Camila ran away with the match in the third and final set, winning it 6-1.

She will next take on the 13th sees, Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
