Yshai Oliel won his opening match at Wimbledon on Saturday afternoon after he beat Alexandre Rotsaert in his boys’ singles first round match.

The 17-year-old, who’s ranked 12th in the tournament, took less than an hour – 53 minutes – to beat the American 6-3, 6-2.

He faces either Frenchman Matteo Martineau or Indian Siddhant Banthia for a place in the third round, which precedes the quarter-finals.

Oliel is also involved in the boys doubles competition. Teaming up with American Andrew Fenty, they take on Frenchman Dan Added and Belgian Zizou Bergs in their first round clash.

Oliel is Israel’s last representative after Dudi Sela was forced to retire from his third round match earlier on Saturday through injury
