Julia Robertson and Lauren Harris were among World Jewish Relief’s five runners at the inaugural Big Half – a half-marathon set up from the organisers of the London Marathon.

Joining Mo Farah for the race – who finished an hour ahead of the duo – the two helped raise more than £1,000 to support the work of the international development charity. Julia, who finished in a time of 2:13:41 said: “It was a real pleasure and also a real challenge to run The Big Half for World Jewish Relief, their amazing support before and during the event was most definitely needed and even more appreciated.”

Lauren, who finished one second behind, said: “Thank you WJR for all your support and encouragement – we couldn’t have done it without you. I was honoured to run for such an excellent cause.”

WJR’s Head of External Affairs, Richard Verber, said: “We’d like to thank our runners for braving unbelievably cold conditions – a week of snow before the half marathon was the worst possible way to prepare but that didn’t put off any of them off and we were delighted to cheer them on as we spotted them during the race on Sunday.”

The money raised will go towards improving the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable Jewish communities. The next World Jewish Relief challenge event is the Wolf Run, a 10km run through mud, obstacles and giant inflatables.
