Woolf hits 100 goals for Raiders

Norstar Raiders striker Nicky Woolf put himself into the record books at the weekend after he became only the second player in the club’s history to score 100 goals.

Scoring four times in the B side’s 5-0 win at Athletic Bilbaum – to send them joint-top of the Division Two table – Woolf, who went into the game on 98 goals for the club, is now just 13 behind the club’s all-time leading scorer Guy Sharon.

Having joined the club as 16-year-old in the 2003/04 season, the 26-year-old said: “It was a very proud moment for me to score my 100th goal for the club which I’ve been at since I was 17 – and to score the 100th goal on a pitch on White Hart Lane made it even more special.

“I have to pay special tribute to Rob Richman who managed me for the majority of my seasons at Raiders and to chairman/manager Jonny Adelman. Now I am just focussing on my next target which is Guy Sharon’s all-time Raiders top scorer record which hopefully I can achieve this season.”

Adelman, who currently manages him, said: “I remember his debut as a 17-year-old. He had bags of talent even then, but to break the 100-goal mark for the club is quite some achievement.

“It’s great to see a true one-club man making his mark and I’m sure he’s eyeing up Guy Sharon’s all time record – with the form he is in you wouldn’t back against him breaking that during this season.”

Club Life Vice-President Richman said: “I’m delighted for Nicky. I’m not sure there are many people who can match his dedication to the Orange shirt over the years. It’s a great achievement to have scored 100 goals for one club and I have no doubt he’ll become the all-time top Raiders goalscorer very soon.”
